QUICK TAKES
Best French Onion soup at a restaurant called Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Las Vegas, French food like in Paris. We love sitting on the patio area, watching the water show across the street at the Bellagio, or people watching as they walk by….Don’t forget the crepe desserts!! Bananas Foster the best!! Moderate ($$$) Great wine list….service always terrific...Taqueria Cañonita's is a relaxing spot to watch the gondolas go by, listen to gondoliers sing on the Venetian’s Grand Canal at , service was good, food good, different. We had the Taco selection, 3 soft tacos, served with black beans and rice, were delicious…great chips and salsa…..Speaking of Mexican, go to Garduno’s at the Palms, all time favorite Vegas restaurant for Mexican…lots of amazing Margaritas...great salsa bar, I love the combo plate, 3-4 items of your choice under $10….wife loves the steak tacos...free dessert, delicious, warm sopapillas with honey….meal for two with 4 margaritas, and tip was $50….good service….….Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian, it’s a grander Cheesecake Factory, big servings of great food...24 hours a day...very large place, seats 550, menu has 150 items...dessert, try the Molten Chocolate cake!! Meal for two depends, ours was $25....Terrific buffet for lunch…..our favorite is the Paris Las Vegas Le Village buffet...if you haven’t tried French cooking, this is the place to check it ALL out…fill your plate with samples from all the stations... go back for more of what you like....it’s rich....some items cooked to order...Deli has 3/4 lb. Mega-dog $1.49, ½ rack ribs $4….huge strawberry shortcake, $1.99, 99¢ (so-so) margarita...coffee shop: hamburger/shake plus other choices $4.99, and nightly pasta/salad bar...

Panevino's...off strip location...still great views of strip/airport

  • Bootlegger Bistro (Italian) @ S. Las Vegas Blvd. (south end of Las Vegas strip) Location: 7700 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, NV 89123 Phone: 702-736-4939 Hours: 24 hours daily Payment: Major credit cards Parking: Self-parking Children's menu: Yes, for the little bambinos!! Price range: MODERATE ($$$) Reservations: recommended (especially for dinner) Features: • Bar • Handicap Access • Late night • Live entertainment • Wine List • Group-friendly The old-style lounge is one of Vegas' best-kept secrets, and landmark as their first "Bootlegger" restaurant opened in 1949.....The menu offers an exceptional choice of chicken and veal dishes, along with their classic spaghetti and meatballs. When we dined here recently....six people all ordered different items from the main menu, from stuffed manicotti, chicken dishes, to their specialty Saltimbocca a la Blackie, which I had and can personally say was very good and will now be one of my favorite dishes... Everyone said the food was excellent...the service not so great....we were always lacking water, drinks, bread, etc...and it was a long time between visits by our waiter to see how we were doing, or to take the order, etc... The restaurant was busy... Once we got the salads, it was quite a wait after the salads were finished (15-20 minutes) before we received our main dishes....worth the wait, so be patient...go later in the evening (after 7:30PM), make a reservation, ask for one of the wonderful booths....(booths are just like the ones you would see in any of the Vegas mega-resort showrooms, just like the old days)...enjoy the music...and the terrific food...

  • Eiffel Tower Restaurant (French) @ Paris Las Vegas 11 stories up, access only by glass-walled elevator, perfect views of the Bellagio fountains and the lights of Vegas. Best tables are two-seaters, ideal spot for a romantic meal. Table 56 is choice seating... Chef’s creations include fresh herb-crusted Pacific snapper, grilled salmon, double-cut bone-in rib-eye, lobster Thermion, a tournedos Rossini with truffle sauce or a balloting of boneless quail. Our dinner for two, 2 cocktails, appetizers: 2 Escargot (the best), entrees: tournedos Rossini with truffle sauce (excellent), filet mignon (excellent); sides: twice-baked potato, asparagus….bottle of fav red wine, choice of breads w/ dinner; after dinner chocolate mousse (waiter will ask you to order early) came hot with vanilla and chocolate sauces; wow was it good!!….regular coffee, espresso and two after dinner drinks….grand total for two: $360 incl. tip; excellent service....HINT: in front of the elevator is a manned desk starting at 4:30 pm, they will be glad to take you up for a tour….or go up and have a drink ….

  • Nero’s Gourmet Steakhouse @ Caesars
An old time favorite...steaks and prime rib always excellent, also great seafood and other choices….service excellent...sides served family style, enough to share… Great garlic mashed spuds! Good wine list!! Old Vegas standard for excellent food and service...can’t go wrong….but on the expensive side...but you won’t be disappointed…. Kind of fun to sit on their patio and people watch…. Make a reservation….most nights are busy now a days, especially with their coliseum shows...phone: 702-731-7731
