RTC: bus system provides for inexpensive transportation throughout the valley. There are three routes that service the Strip area, one of which provides service 24 hours a day.  A bus top can be found nearly every block, and the buses run as far as Fry's, Las Vegas Outlets and the Vegas Pointe Plaza (formerly Factory Stores of America).
Fares: Full fare is $2 each way, senior citizens and children ages 6-17 are eligible for reduced fares with a CAT reduced fare photo I.D. (or an I.D. from another transit system).  Call them for a compete schedule (228-7433).
Or visit their NEW website at: RTC (fares, schedules, etc...change, so check it out here)

TAXIS -TAXICAB FARES AND FEES…

The Las Vegas valley is serviced by sixteen taxicab companies.....
Las Vegas taxi fares have gone up again...starting Oct 1st...passengers will pay $3.30 for the meter drop...average cab fare is about $11.50 per trip according to the Taxicab Authority...my best guess as to the number of cabs in Las Vegas is 2800...
"When you enter a taxicab, the driver will start the taximeter (referred to as the “drop”) and an initial charge of $3.30 will register. If a taxi ride originates at McCarran International Airport, an additional airport surcharge of $1.80 per trip is added to the taximeter. After the initial “drop”, the taximeter will assess a fare of $1.60 per mile ($.20 for each 1/8th of a mile traveled). If the taximeter senses that the taxicab is moving less than 8-12 MPH, the taximeter will assess a charge of $.25 every 30 seconds ($30.00 per hour waiting time). That is why the taximeter continues to accumulate charges even when the taxicab is not moving. Once the taximeter senses that the taxicab is moving at a speed greater than 8-12 MPH the fare calculates on the actual distance traveled.

 details are from the
Nevada Taxicab Authority website...check there to be sure the rates have not changed again....they also have APPROXIMATE MINIMUM FARES TO VARIOUS SOUTHERN NEVADA LOCATIONS…

LIMOUSINES

Note: S Some companies may charge a $5.00 Airport Security fee and additional $5.00 meet and greet fee will be added for all service beginning at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.

There are many companies around Vegas that provide limousine service.  They are available for hourly rental around town.  Rate for a basic limousine vary per company but usually begin at approximately $35 per hour up to $60 per hour.  Sedan rental ranges from $30 to $40 per hour and super stretches usually run $80 per hour.

Please be sure that any limo service that you use is licensed by the Transportation Services Authority of Nevada ..........click here for their:

SHUTTLE SERVICES Many of the Las Vegas hotels provide shuttle service from airport to their location. Some of these run on a regular schedule, while others may have to be requested in advance. Be sure to check with your hotel when you make a reservation to find out about their specific shuttle services. (note: some of the strip/off-strip hotels provide shuttles to their sister properties, and/or back and forth to the strip and the hotel)
Of course there are other transportation companies that provide shuttle services:
Star Trans 646-4661
Bell Trans Shuttle 739-7990
Gray Line Tours of S. Nevada 739-5700
Henderson Corridor Connection 565-7087

You can expect the average cost to be $7 to the Strip, and $9 to the downtown area, of course, this is always going up....
